Five actors join the first season
FX's Far Cry series is assembling a large ensemble for its debut season. Brendan Gleeson, whose credits include The Banshees of Inisherin and In Bruges, is among the new additions, as is Jennifer Jason Leigh, known for The Hateful Eight and FX's Fargo. Hamish Linklater, who has appeared in Widow's Bay and Midnight Mass, also joins, along with Sam Spruell, whose credits include A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and FX's Alien: Earth, and Jamie Demetriou, known for Stath Lets Flats and The Afterparty.[S1]
These five actors are the latest additions to the first season, joining Rob Mac — who serves as lead and co-creator — plus Lizzy Caplan and Steve Buscemi, whose involvement was announced earlier. The show draws its premise from the video game franchise bearing the same title. While specifics about the storyline and roles have not been disclosed, the series will adopt an anthology structure mirroring the games, meaning each season introduces a fresh cast and a new location.[S1]
Production team and release plans
News of the project being housed at FX surfaced in November 2025, with Noah Hawley and Mac credited as creators. Mac's executive producer role falls under More Better Productions, and Hawley takes an EP credit through 26 Keys as part of his overall arrangement with FX and Disney Entertainment Television. Additional executive producers include Simon Emanuel, Emilia Serrano (26 Keys), Nick Frenkel (3 Arts), Monica Macer, Peter Calloway, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill (Ubisoft Film & Television). Far Cry will air on FX, Hulu, and Disney+ internationally.
